Purpose

Chess as a tool for better thinking

IMSC in Communities is being developed as a future community pathway for beginner-friendly chess activities. The aim is to use chess to help people practise focus, patience, decision-making, resilience and structured thinking.

This initiative is not currently open for delivery, applications or partnerships. The page exists to show the long-term direction of the club.

Chess-led workshop concepts focused on resilience, decision-making, problem solving and confidence through small choices.

Future community events that could introduce chess to new players in a relaxed, welcoming club environment.

The programme will need clear safeguarding, delivery standards, session plans and partnership expectations before launch.

Linked to training

Future community sessions could connect with the Training Centre through beginner pathways, puzzles and simple improvement habits.

Long-term club pathway

The initiative could eventually help new players move from community chess into club training, online league play and wider chess participation.

Development Status

Community workstream in development

The immediate priority is launching Lega Inter Mezzo. IMSC in Communities remains a future pathway for schools, families and local chess activity.
