These are the ten largest rating upsets from 34 qualifying games. Draws, forfeits and games involving an unrated player are excluded.

The test is the same one used in the first three rounds: a completed decisive game counts only when a player with a published numeric rating beats a higher-rated opponent.

Ten teams came through Round 4 on maximum points, and every one of them is seeded inside the top 14. Bulgaria, Uzbekistan and Serbia are the lowest-ranked members of the group. After three rounds in which Montenegro, Argentina and Iran all took points off higher seeds, the Women's leaderboard has quietly sorted itself back into rating order.

The United States lead the official standings and are clear of the field on board points, having dropped just one point in sixteen games. Two draws are the whole of the damage so far. Alice Lee is now on 4/4, while Carissa Yip and Tatev Abrahamyan are both on 3/3; five other players across the co-leading teams have also won every game they have played. China matched the Americans' 3.5-0.5 scoreline against Hungary, Bulgaria did the same to Romania and Serbia to Iran, while Azerbaijan needed 2.5-1.5 against England.

Georgia drew 2-2 with 34th-seeded Austria, which leaves the second seeds a full match win adrift. They have not been part of the leading group since Montenegro held them in Round 2, so this was confirmation rather than news.

Thirty-four games met the rating-upset test, and one of them decided a team result. Leah Rice of Singapore, rated 1884, beat Greece's Maria Tsakona, rated 2135, which is how 62nd-seeded Singapore took a point off the 24th seeds. Costa Rica, seeded 67th, held 29th-seeded Sweden by a similar route. The largest gap of the round belonged to Kosovo's Alba Pllana, rated 1470, over Botswana's Atlang Amolemo Mosweu, rated 1774, at 304 points. Bangladesh's Anjum Noshin produced the second-largest upset, beating Eva Repkova across a 288-point rating gap.

The shape of the tournament is tightening as the Swiss system does its work. There were no major surprises on the first ten boards in Round 4, and Round 5 now pairs all ten perfect-score teams against one another: United States-Uzbekistan, India-Poland, Kazakhstan-Germany, Bulgaria-China and Azerbaijan-Serbia. The leading group cannot survive intact.
